Composite Team away at Apollo, Last Match !

To start with we had three subs stand in for us, and thanks to (Rob, Yat and Dan W) for tonight’s (25th) match, The first two matches to take place were the Men's, (3 & 4 (Dan L & Dan W) doubles and the Ladies Doubles (Jane and Mary). The Double Dan’s out played their opponents quite convincingly winning 21-15, 21-15. The ladies however had a more disappointing game, their Opponents (Carol & Lee) played well and luck was on their side with some fluke shots which trickled over the net. Jane and Mary lost 17-21 , 11-21. The match was tied at 1:1 and the Team need to recompose.

The next match was another Men's Double, (M1&M2) (Rob and Yat) and both played magnificently well, outwitting their opponents and ran away with a magnificent score of 21-10, 21-8. Well played Rob and Yat, just what Rovers needed. On the other court was the first mixed match, (Jane and Dan W) which despite taking the first rubber 21-15, saw their opponents (Lee and Mason) dig deep to win the next two rubbers 9-21 & 19-21, what a tight third rubber, this game could have gone either way. The match was yet again drawn at 2:2.

Now it was Mary and Yat’s turn in the 2nd mixed game , Yat played some brilliant shots in the 1st rubber, Mary was trying to keep up ….. but winning 21-12, the 2nd rubber was closer with their opponents (Carol and Mark) now playing better but were pipped at the post by Yat and Mary winning 21-19, It was now 3:2 to Rovers.

On the other court Jane and Rob had started their game and they managed to keep their opponents (Lee and Colin) at bay with a 21-11 & 21-16 win. Rovers were now 4:2 up

Mary and Dan L were up next and things did not go too well for them, they lost 10-21 & 17-21, Apollo were fighting back it was now 4:3 to Rovers

The final two games were the men’s doubles and Yat and Dan L out played their opponents and had them running all over the place and won by 21-12 & 21-14, but there was still another match on the other court Rob and Dan W who also played well and won their game 21-14 & 21-17, which meant Rovers had won the Match 6:3.

With this win, it looks like the Composite Team finish 2nd (runners up) in the Composite Team (awaiting confirmation from NFRBA) in this year’s league, magnificent progress from the previous year.

WELL DONE to the Composite Team and also the Subs who played this season.
